As a former European and Commonwealth champion and the current holder of the British men’s 400m record (he ran 44.36 in 1997), Iwan Thomas has gone down in history as one of country’s best one lap runners. Lucy was invited to the the press preview of fitness guru Nell McAndrew's new DVD workout, Peak Energy Recharged. Lucy was given a taster session of the full class that can be followed by purchasing the DVD. The workout includes exercises that are beneficial for running by improving balance and strengthening the legs and core. There's also a 'heavy hands' weights section to work the upper body. After the taster session, Lucy liked it so much she has been doing the 'heavy hands' section and 'core stability' sections on the DVD every week since!

Lucy was invited to try a new 'Whipped' class at Equinox's High Street Kensington gym by the Fitness Writers' Association. It's a fun, circuit-based class revolving around battle ropes that you whip up and down and side to side for a full body workout

A year on from the London 2012 Olympics, runners were invited ‘back to the stadium’ for a 5 mile race around the Olympic Park finishing on the athletics track. Such was the demand, the website crashed when entries first opened and then sold out within a day. The event was first held in spring 2012 before the London Olympics as a sneak peek at the venue but its success means it’s likely to carry on as an annual event.
