Glasgow bound! Amy Whitehead selected for Commonwealth Games

Running Feat is off to Glasgow! Amy Whitehead has been named in the England squad at this summer’s Commonwealth Games.

Amy Whitehead running London MarathonAmy, 35, secured selection after finishing first female Brit at the London Marathon with a time of 2.34.20, which was inside the qualifying mark of 2.35.00.

The Notts AC athlete’s selection was announced to this week along with male runner Steve Way.

England Athletics will announce further additions to the team on 2nd June.

Amy said: 'I'm delighted to be selected for the Commonwealth Games, it’s a dream come true. Since having my daughter, I’ve wanted to represent my country in the marathon. I feel really privileged and proud to be part of the team. 

'I’ve always wanted to make the Commonwealth Games and it’s been a personal ambition of mine to get here. I would love to do as well as I possibly can. When you put on an England vest you want to do everybody proud.'
